► Yousuf retires from international cricket

Pakistan media had already been suspecting that Mohammad Yousuf was going to announce his retirement from international cricket on Monday, and now Yousuf has confirmed it. The rumour was still laughed off when it had come up earlier after the PCB had handed out the shocking bans to Yousuf and Younis. But I got suspicious again when Yousuf, unlike Shoaib Malik, Rana Naved, Younis and Shahid Afridi, did not take the chance to appeal against the punishment.
The PCB has virtually frozen him out and Pakistan have lost their most valuable test batsman, who still had some more years of good test cricket inside him. He wasn't a pristine angel, but everybody outside Pakistan had taken the friendly and funny guy to their hearts. I am speechless for now, thank you Ijaz Butthead.

Yousuf was not only a brilliant Tes player but also a fine ODI player. He knew how to build an innings in an ODI. Pakistan will miss him.

ah sorry Wesi, I feel u. He was a great batsman Pakistan had produced but lacks some opportunities and had lot of distractions throughout his career otherwise this record could have been much more brilliant.

Now this summer our batting lineup will be shit totally specially if Younis is not back in team and form till than.

Yousuf is the one batsman I tired to copy whenever I play a cover drive or front foot drive (i rarely do that right :P). Today local newspaper headline was a ample example of his batting style

"Yousuf a poet who do poetry with bat said Good Bye to Cricket"

What a player!

Will be missed heavily for sure! Big loss for Pakistan cricket...

An elegant, graceful and class act...

His legacy will remain the golden year of 2006 when he broke the record for the most runs in a calendar year, a formidability.
